Well, the gang's gone to Mexico. Laura and Nathan left this morning with 20 some-odd other teens and adults from our church and the surrounding area for Torreon and la Loma, Mexico where our sister church is. They will be helping to construct the church in la Loma and a school in Torreon and, I think, put the finishing touches on Pastor Fransico's house. This is Laura's second year going to Mexico and she said she didn't sleep much last night, she was so excited to leave. She worked very hard in that last few weeks, getting her school work done here at home, so that she would be caught up when she got back.
This leaves me here with the two boys; or rather more acurately, right now with four boys. Yikes! Yes, that's right, four boys. We've been foster parenting twin, 18-month-old boys every other week-end and this week-end happened to be my week-end. So, I'm embarking on an adventure without either of my helpers, Nathan and Laura. We are praying for no sickness and have employed a "naughty spot", ala SuperNanny, for when the twins misbehave, which with toddler twins happens every 5 mintues, it seems!
Last week-end, Laura enjoyed a special evening with Nathan, their 4th or 5th time at the annual Father/Daughter Ball hosted by a local church and one of our local Christian Radio Stations. The two evenings on successive week-ends each saw 1,000 fathers and daughters. I was teary-eyed as I took pictures of my nearly-teen-aged daughter all dressed up to go out on a "date" with Dad. My how time does fly. Seems like yesterday she was just a baby.
The next day we all went to the Symphony's Lollipop Concert, a special concert just for kids. Daniel was a little confused as he is really excited about the Christian Rock concert we are going to THIS Sunday and right before the Symphony started he leaned over and whispered, "Is this the concert where we jump up and down and scream?" I laughed and told him no, he had to wait one more week before that one. He sighed and is pretty excited to see Stellar Kart in a few days, along with a few other bands.
